What to expect when seeking help
We normally like to start by meeting with you for one or two assessment sessions. These initial sessions serve two purposes:
- - To give us an opportunity to get to know you and gain an understanding of your concerns and current circumstances
- - To allow you the opportunity to get to know us and learn about how we work
Usually after the second appointment we are able to have an informed discussion.
Please note that these first steps are the same, whether you are asking for assessment or treatment.
If we are meeting for purpose of psychological assessment than the assessment details will be discussed with you in advance.
The work required for psychological assessment varies greatly and depends on individual circumstances.
When we are providing treatment we usually work with individuals on a once a week basis. Our work with families and couples frequently begins with weekly session and then progresses to sessions spaced two or three weeks apart depending upon the circumstances.
All sessions are 40 to 45 minutes long. The remaining minutes of the therapy hour are spending writing brief notes so that information is retained
